South Whitehall in the Lehigh Valley
Daughter who is 10 and son who is 5
What is your background?
Wife, Teacher, Mom, Publisher, Tired! I am currently teaching 5th grade science and social studies at a cyber school. I have taught 4th grade, STEM, and Learning Support. I was the technology director for a small school and still help when I can. I am also an advisor for a middle school – high school Girls Who Code program and it has been a phenomenal journey learning along with the girls. I started publishing for a local family website a couple years ago after an amazing friend told me about the opportunity.
Why did you decide to bring The Local Moms Network to your town?
I wanted to continue to be a go-to resource for parents in the Lehigh Valley. I found The Local Moms Network with the help of a friend and from there it is all history. As a mom, this is exactly the kind of resource I would depend on and I wanted to be a part of the movement. I want to bring mom support, resources, and so much for to the community that I love so much.
Must-try restaurant(s) (with and without kids):
Danny, my husband, and I love The Bayou in Bethlehem. If you love southern cooking and a taste of NOLA, you need to check them out. We also love La Cocina Mexicana in Kutztown. They are both great with and without kids.
Hotel you recommend to friends/family:
Hotel Bethlehem for some luxury time for sure.
Go-to drink spot:
I feel like with covid it has been so long since I’ve been out. Honestly, my current go-to drink spot is my house with some Scout & Cellar wine.
Place you love to get coffee:
The Bagel Bar in Kutztown has the most amazing Nitro Brew. I am a self proclaimed coffee snob and they are by far the best I’ve had!
Where to entertain the entire family indoors/outdoors:
We love to walk the Lehigh Valley Zoo and Trexlertown Nature Preserve on a nice day. Indoors, we usually head to Davinci Science Center.
Don’t miss events for visitors (and locals!):
MusikFest in Bethlehem is a must! If you are in town for St. Patty’s Day, Allentown has an amazing parade. Make sure you get to an Iron Pigs game and a Lehigh Valley Phantoms game too. We are big sports fans and love our local sports options.
Our mission is to give moms the gift of time. What are your best time-saving tips/resources as a mom?
I am a planner. I use my phone calendar for everything. Literally everything. I set timers as reminders for different things as well. Currently my kids are home with me during the day, thanks pandemic, so since I am teaching and they both have school schedules as well, we are very organized. Keeping things on track and having those calendar reminders and timers have kept my sanity.
