It’s true. The best way to celebrate your mom this Mother’s Day is by spending a day just enjoying time together. Whether staying home or going out, we have come up with a list of the best ways to spend time with your momma. These ideas are tried and true and living in the Lehigh Valley, we’ve added some great ideas that are local and close to home.
Visit the Farmer’s Market
Many of our areas Farmer’s Markets started opening the first weekend in May. Spend the morning walking around local vendors, grab something tasty, and enjoy the day out with mom.
Lehigh Valley Zoo
One of my favorite places to visit is the Lehigh Valley Zoo. We like to go early when the animals are up and about (we noticed they like to nap after lunch) then we spend the afternoon enjoying the Jordan and the Trexler Nature Preserve.
Miniature Golf
For my birthday, my husband and kids set up an amazing mini golf course throughout the house. We had a hole going though a dollhouse and another than went down the steps. It was the most amazing birthday. EVER. If making a golf course isn’t on the menu, take a trip to Rolling Hills Golf Course and enjoy some ice cream afterwards
Salon and Spa Day
Mom deserves some pampering. Book her for some highlights or maybe a massage. A pedicure is always appreciated. She works hard all year and a day of beauty and pampering is sure to make her day relaxing.
Get on the Water
Head to the water, rent a boat, and grab your rod for a fun day fishing with mom. Mom not into fishing? Pack a picnic and enjoy a nice day just hanging out by the water. Check out the Jordan Creek or Leaser Lake, two of my favorites.
Visit a Vineyard
Lehigh Valley Wine Trail is one of my favorite ways to spend the day with my girlfriends. Pick a vineyard or two and enjoy some wine. Check their websites for live music and other activities sure to make mom’s day.
Head to the Park
Pack mom a good book, a picnic, and let her watch the kids play at the park. Bring a ball for a family game of catch. Check out our Playground Guide for some of the favorite parks we have visited in the Lehigh Valley for ideas on where to go.
Book a Family Photo Session
Treasure the moments with mom this Mother’s Day and capture them with a family photo session. Maybe photographers are offering Mother’s Day Mini Sessions.
Take a Family Bike Ride
Lehigh Valley is the home to so many great trails. Fill those water bottles, grab your helmets, and hop on your bike to explore a new trail. Check out our Lehigh Valley Bike Trail Guide for our favorite trails around the Valley.
Go to the Drive-In Movies
My husband and I started going to Shankweilers when our first born was a baby. It was a way we could enjoy a double feature on a budget and not have to worry about a babysitter. We would bring dinner in the car (because you have to get their early to secure your spot) and then hang out and talk until the movie started. With out kids being older now, they love to throw a ball around while we wait. Some of our favorite summer memories are at the drive-in!
