Meet-A-Mom: Jamie Davis - Lehigh Valley Moms

On behalf of Lehigh Valley Moms, I would like to wish you all a very happy Mother’s Day. If you are reading this- thank you for being here!

This month, in honor of Mother’s Day, we asked our online community to nominate a local mom who deserved to be featured in our much loved “Meet-A-Mom” interview. After double checking that the profiles did in fact exist (you’d be surprised…) Jamie Davis was chosen to be our May Meet-A-Mom!

Jamie is a 33 year old mom of three kids earth side and one in heaven. She is a Lehigh Valley native who grew up in Forks Township and has lived in Nazareth for the last 10 years with her husband, kids and dogs. She is a stay at home mom and also works as a realtor for Home Team Real Estate in Bethlehem.

Hi Jamie! Congratulations on being our May Meet-A-Mom! What do you think the best thing about raising a family in the Lehigh Valley?
The best part is how much is available at our fingertips. From restaurants to activities to parks, there’s no shortage of things to do and we’re so accessible to cities as well

Tell us about your ideal day/night off from “mom-ing”.
Ooh honestly, my husband and I are active and love activities so I would say getting a fun drink at Starbucks or local cafe, going for a long walk, exploring a town we don’t know and getting lunch.

What do you think is the best way to make mom friends in the Lehigh Valley?
Join a gym! I have met some of my closest friends that way- my friend who nominated me for this interview is a mom I met through the gym and she’s one of the most important people in my life now!

What is your go to “Mom Uniform”?
My go to mom uniform is definitely athleisure

What is your go to rainy day activity?
If it’s a weekday, I would say we’re going to the gym and utilizing the childwatch so the kids can play too and then coming home to bake. If it’s a weekend, we’re loading up and going somewhere fun like Cabela’s or a new mall.

Do your children participate in any sports or extra curricular activities? What is your favorite and why?
Who knew they’d keep me so busy already?! They’re involved in jiu jitsu, kickboxing, wrestling, and soccer right now. I think my favorite is wrestling because it’s so cool getting to see my son rely on himself while also being part of a team. Although, as my middle gets older, I may say soccer since that’s what I played my whole life.

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?
My favorite thing about being a mom is getting to create life that’s half me and half Jp (my husband) and getting to see who they become everyday.

What is the hardest thing about being a mom?
The hardest part about being a mom for me is the mental load that we carry.

We all know the phrase “it takes a village”, who is your village and how do you use them?
Sure does! We’re so lucky to have our family all local. I don’t know how we’d survive if it weren’t for them helping when we have appointments or a date night.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten about mom life?
Not to listen to people when they tell you “just wait” in a negative way. For example, when people say something like “The newborn phase is so hard but just wait until you hit the terrible twos!” While every phase has shown to be challenging for different reasons, every phase my kids have gone through has turned out to be my favorite.

Jamie’s Favorite Things:

Favorite Local Take Out Food: Utopita in Bethlehem. So good and fresh!
Favorite Date Night Spot: Orchid Steakhouse
Favorite Weekend Activity: Iron Pigs games with my family
Favorite Activity to Unwind: Watching Bravo or reading a good book
Favorite Local Coffee Shop: Not necessarily a coffee shop, but Fuze in Nazareth
Favorite Local Retail Shop: Spin Me Round (record store at the Palmer mall)
Favorite “Quick Escape” Spot: New Hope and Peddler’s Village
