As a mom, I feel that I spend so much time taking care of everyone else that sometimes I forget to take care of myself. This was especially true due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the world, here in the Lehigh Valley, turning upside down. I went from going to work each day after dropping my kids off in school to teaching from home while they schooled from home in the blink of an eye.
While we see the end of the covid pandemic nearing in the Lehigh Valley, thanks to the vaccine initiative and schools working on plans to reopen on a full time basis, we start to see ways that we can begin refilling those cups we left empty for so long.
Here are some ways that we can refill our cups and show some self love.
The Lehigh Valley offers some amazing chances to get active in a variety of ways. I found a love of Yoga to help my mind relax and my body stretch. Here are some other ways and places to get Active in the Lehigh Valley:
Take a long walk or bike ride on one of these trails. Enjoy the quiet on a solo ride or bring the entire family for a day out together. Both options provide some amazing stress release for a momma that just needs to get out and do something.
Held at Covered Bridge Park, this is one of my favorite ways to have some me-time. I buy a class pass from South Whitehall Township (you can buy them online) and head to a class or two a week. All the classes are on our event calendar so check it out.
99 Walks is more than just walking… it is seriously the most positive community I have ever belonged to. Walk, meet your goal, earn a bracelet. Better than that — you can join a team and connect with other women near and far. The app tracks your walks, has playlists, indoor and outdoor walking classes with trainers… so much good stuff.
Gym, Aquatics, Salon, Spa… this is the place to go for everything. Check out their website and all the amazing services they offer. Whatever your destress, you can probably get it there.
This is another option that is about more than the workout — it is about a community of moms. You can bring your littles, your stroller, or just yourself and take some time to make healthy choices and make some mom friends. I love everything Fit4Mom has to offer.
This is the place to go if you want a good burn and a lot of swear. Barre3 is an amazing workout and amazing community.
Find a hobby that let’s your mind rest.

These are some of our favorite spots to feel pampered and to get a break from home, work, husbands, and kiddos. A simple act such as a haircut or a pedicure can make you feel like a whole new person.
Take time for yourself. Steal a few minutes a day where you can stop, think, and listen to your own mind and body. Whether it is a hot soak in the bathtub or coffee on the front porch. Take a moment to just be.
